Screen shot 2011 12 21 at 8.43.36 AMBREAKING NEWS: Real School's Lydia Harrell has been selected by Sony Music to headline its upcoming Bob Marley Tribute Album and International Tour! Recording begins in late January, with live performances in South America scheduled for later in 2012.

A lifelong Bob Marley fan, Lydia first heard of the audition through Real School instructor Dave Reffett, who noticed the listing on the Berklee College of Music website. Knowing of Lydia's interest in Marley, Dave forward the audition listing and Lydia was able to secure an audition back in November. Her audition went so well that Sony called her back the very next day for a second audition.

"We were told that the third runner-up would have the opportunity to sing lead vocals on one song on the album," explains Lydia. "The second runner-up would have the opportunity to sing two songs, with the winner singing lead vocals on the rest of the album." When Lydia got called back for a second day of auditions, she figured she might have done well enought to grab the third place spot. When she got the call from Sony informing her that she had won the entire competition, it was one of those telephone calls all musicians dream about!

Although details have yet to be released, we'll be sure to keep you posted on the album release, and on Lydia's whirlwind tour of South America.

Please join us in congratulating Lydia on this wonderful accomplishment!
