FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

BURLINGTON, MA, May 16, 2016 --- To help support its rapid growth, Reach 4 Real recently certified two of its instructors, Natali Freed-Wicklund and Corrine Mina as lead teachers, and hired Samantha Gardner to teach the newly created Adaptive Dance classes.

Being a lead instructor is a much coveted and rewarding standing that gives instructors the opportunity to determine the class structure, be the liaison between Reach 4 Real and parents or caregivers, and prep materials such as visuals, recordings, and equipment that are necessary to facilitate a class, among other things. Reach 4 Real has four other active instructors and is consistently growing to help support the amount of students who are enrolling. To quote Reach 4 Real’s Executive Director, Kelly Surette, “we can’t hire instructors fast enough to keep up with the growth of our program.”

Andover_Tali_Freed.jpgNatali Freed-Wicklund, or “Tali”, as she is often called, grew up in a musical family in Pennsylvania and was put on stage by her mom at the age of two. She quickly learned to value the community-building effect that music making had. She has been teaching music for over 5 years throughout the Boston area, focusing her efforts on voice, violin, and piano instruction. She has led voice and theater workshops at an Easter Seals summer camp, Cambridge Center for Adult Education, and the Rock & Roll Day Care and Montessori Preschool.

Tali has a Bachelor's of Music Degree from Berklee College of Music, where she focused on Vocal Performance and Songwriting.  In addition to teaching classes with Reach 4 Real, Tali also teaches voice and piano at The Real School in Andover. Tali is whole-heartedly invested in teaching, commenting, “I really enjoy working to ensure students are having a good experience in the music classes from week to week. I’ve also enjoyed working with the other Reach 4 Real teachers, each Reach 4 Real class is co-taught, so having two teachers lead the class enables us to teach and be attentive to the students.”

Corrine Mina, is originally from Chicago, Illinois. She worked for the Northern Suburban Special Recreation Association throughout high school and as a program assistant in college working with children and adults with special needs. She graduated from Columbia College Chicago in 2008 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Composition and an instrumental focus in trumpet. In 2015, Corrine moved to Boston to attend Berklee College of Music at the Graduate level with a focus on Music Therapy.  She started working with Reach 4 Real in December of 2015, and when asked about her experience with the program, she replied, “Nothing I have ever done in my life has given me as much joy as working with these kids and adults. I love music to the core of my bones, and I am so grateful to be able to share that gift with others through Reach 4 Real. Our students have taught me more than I have taught them; about how to be courageous, how to defy expectations, and how to truly enjoy the small, precious things in life that are often overlooked on a daily basis. I’m excited for the future and growth of Reach 4 Real and to continue learning and developing with the program and students.”

Congratulations Natali and Corrine, we are so fortunate to have your talent and expertise!

New Reach 4 Real Adaptive Dance Program

Reach 4 Real is also excited to announce a much-anticipated program, Adaptive Dance, which will be available for enrollment this summer. Adaptive Dance will provide a safe and supportive environment for individuals with a variety of needs to experience movement and musicality. The students will explore their creativity while learning to work cooperatively with other students. Students will acquire skills in balance, posture, and alignment, while enhancing their self-esteem and confidence. Additionally, throughout the term, students will work on preparing a fun, end of session performance!

She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Dance from Keene State College. While at Keene State, she studied modern, ballet, tap, jazz, dance composition and choreography, dance history, and anatomy studying dancer’s bodies, specifically. As a part of her senior thesis, Samantha did extensive research in dance and movement therapy as well, and has a deep interest in that field.

Samantha is thrilled about her new journey with Reach 4 Real, stating, “I’m very excited to be joining such an amazing and welcoming team, and I am looking forward to beginning our new Adaptive Dance Program!”

Stay tuned for more information on enrolling in the Adaptive Dance Program.
